Welcome Friends!

Well, the Legislature is officially halfway through our 2012 Regular Session. We will reconvene on April 3rd for the second half of our regular session, and we still face many challenges including passing both state budgets, debating important issues such as charter school legislation, immigration reform, and the creation of an Alabama Health Insurance Exchange just to name a few. An outline summary of some of the major legislation we have passed so far this session can be found under the "Legislative Updates" section. 

 
I was delighted during the Legislature's break week to appear on WSFA's Newsmakers program where I was intereviewd by Bob Howell on a variety of issues including the current crisis at Medicaid, charter schools, the effects of proration, and immigration.
